History

What is this? Who is this? 

This is a championship between four friends, whose passions in teams are separated geographically but are equal to no other.  The Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Colorado Avalanche. There will be laughs, there may be tears, and there will be bragging rights on the line.   

These celebrated and historical franchises (and also the Carolina Hurricanes) will battle it out to honor the only player who donned all 4 of these sweaters, The distinguished Mr. Bob Boughner. 

The Bob Boughner Bowl was established for the 2021-2022 NHL season. 

11/16/21 - First game

Buffalo defeats Pittsburgh in the the first ever Bob Boughner Bowl game by a score of 2-1.  Colin Miller's slapshot from the point became the first goal in BBB history. Dustin Tokarski made a career high 45 saves to seal the victory for the Sabres.

2021-2022 CHampions

The Avalanche took home the innagural trophy, mounting an epic comeback when everyone believed the Canes had it in the bag.  The race was so close it came down to a winner takes all final game between Carolina-Colorado.


The Avs won a 7-4 offensive showcase.

2022-2023 Champions

The Carolina Hurricanes won the second ever Bob Boughner season.  The Penguins played the role of spoiler and beat the Avs on the final game of the season for Carolina to retain their first place spot.
