The first season of the Bob Boughner Bowl started off with.. well few games. The first game was not until November 11th between Buffalo and Pittsburgh. Buffalo won the first ever Bob Boughner Bowl match by a score of 2-1.

A few weeks later, with a commanding lead of the Bob Bougher Bowl at stake, the Buffalo Sabres faced the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh. Carolina made it's first game in the Bowl a memorable one, blowing the Sabres out by a score of 6-2. The win and the solid +4 GD means Carolina is solidly in the drivers seat.

Buffalo and the Avalanche faced off in a home and away - with the Avs sweeping the series. Putting them in the lead for a short time until Pittsburgh and Carolina had a home and away, with Carolina sweeping that.

The two undefeated giants Colorado and Carolina faced off and Carolina took it at home 2-0, giving them a command 8 points in the Bowl. Carolina remains undefeated in the BBB. This win by Carolina eliminated Buffalo from championship contention.

After a short break, Buffalo and Pittsburgh had a rematch of the first ever game, with Buffalo taking it in overtime. This loss officially eliminated Pittsburgh from championship contention.

Going into the final 4 games of the season, only Carolina and Colorado can win. Colorado matches up against Pittsburgh in a back to back and Carolina. Carolina faces Buffalo and Colorado. Colorado must all but win out in order to take victory from Carolina's grasps, with a winless Pittsburgh looking to play the spoiler role and avoid the wooden spoon. On April 2nd, The Avalanche beat the Penguins in an afternoon affair - keeping their dreams alive until a critical double header on April 5th.

On April 5th, the Bob Boughner Bowl experienced it's first simultaneous double header. The Penguins hosted the Avs for the second time in a row, and the Sabres took on the Canes in Buffalo. Both games were close until the third, where Buffalo gave the Canes their first loss in the Bowl, and Colorado confirmed Pittsburgh's winless season. This result meant that the Avs and Canes at the end of the night were tied on points and even goal differential, leading to a final, winner takes all, championship game on April 16th in Denver.

April 16th arrived and the conclusion of the Boughner began - the Avs shot out to a 4 goal lead, but the scrappy canes kept pushing back, making it a two goal game on several occasions. But the Avs lead was too much for the Canes to overcome and the Avs finished the game 7-4, making them inaugural champions.
